Q1 Utility Programs Recap

It’s been a busy few months here at Ekotrope as we build out new programs for 2023. We’re excited to share the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes as we hope it will make running these programs easier for our utility partners and easier for our raters to submit their models. We’ve also been traveling around the country to connect with familiar faces and meet new folks in the industry at conferences. We’re excited to see what the rest of the year has in store!

Programs Updates

Launched Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart Program

Ekotrope has supported the Wattsmart program in the past, but this year we’re supporting the program by providing both the submission workflow on the RATER app as well as a custom reference home for the savings calculation.

Make it stand out

Created new reference home for 2023 for OG&E Program

For projects with a permit date of 1/1/2023 or later, we’ve created a new version of the OG&E reference home to include the new AC baselines. Starting this summer, the new baseline will also remove lighting savings and update heat pump efficiency values. This change is helping to bring the OG&E program up to the new industry standards.

Updated Maryland reference home to attribute savings for HVAC Grading

In Maryland, if raters include HVAC grading in their model, the reference home will now generate savings attributed to HVAC grading. The goal here is to help increase the program’s savings and help ensure that the raters that are performing HVAC grading are getting the correct incentive and savings.

Updated DTE incentives for 2023

Finally, we recently updated the DTE program’s incentive checks for 2023 so that raters can get the most up-to-date incentive calculator when running their energy models.

Conference Updates:

Emily Steele, our Strategic Accounts Manager, started the year off in Killington, Vermont at the AESP Kill-A-Ton Decarbonization Conference, learning about how utilities in the Northeast are addressing decarbonization goals and are planning for an influx of federal dollars due to the IRA.

She then traveled out to Chicago with Ziv Rozenblum, Ekotrope’s CEO, for the Midwest Energy Solutions Conference hosted by MEEA. Emily and Ziv connected with industry partners and learned about pressing issues for our clients in the Midwest.

Venturing down south, Emily and Glenn Baker, VP of Business Development, attended the national AESP conference in New Orleans. It was great to meet with both new and familiar faces and learn about how folks are reacting to industry changes at the federal level.

Lastly, we’ve closed out this quarter’s conference tour with the BuildingEnergy Boston conference right here in our own backyard, where our Marketing Associate Sara Bullock, Product Manager David Pedrick, and Emily were able to chat with raters, building product manufacturers, and utilities while learning about innovative building practices and high efficiency materials on the market.

It’s been a busy few months, but we’re excited to be off on a good path for 2023 and are looking forward to what comes next! If your program has plans for major changes in 2023, you’d like to work with us on program updates, or you’re wanting to plan a get-together at a conference, feel free to send us an email at programsupport@ekotrope.com.
