Deliver Builder Reports Without the Hassle

After many months of work and gathering feedback from our rating partners, Ekotrope is proud to announce that our Reports API tool is officially live in beta!

Reports API is a new tool that will allow project management software to request a specific report - like a code compliance document, HERS Certificate, or ENERGY STAR Certificate - for a specific energy model. The Reports API will then return a PDF report that your software can automatically email to a client, export, or post to a shared cloud drive.

This automation allows you to download, store, and send reports to your clients automatically and without the hassle.

Why Did We Build this Tool?

Over the years, raters have told us about the difficulty of delivering reports to builders in the timeframe that builders expect, such as receiving HERS Certificates within 24 hours after a final inspection. We often hear that rating companies have large backlogs of report processing that delays the delivery of those reports.

This not only creates a bottleneck but it also can put strain on your relationships with builders. Our goal is to help propel the HERS industry forward by enabling our rating partners to spend more time building their relationships with builders, innovating, growing their businesses, and helping build more energy efficient homes. Towards that end, we developed Reports API so that you no longer worry about file processing, manual report downloads, or a backlog of builder certificate requests.

What Tasks Does Reports API Automate?

File Processing and Registering Energy Models with RESNET:

Before the Reports API, the typical workflow for processing energy models required entering in the final inspection data, registering the home with RESNET, completing any necessary quality assurance, and then downloading, saving, emailing, and uploading reports to a shared drive or server.

With the Reports API, Inspection Sync, and our standard API, file processing can be reduced to just reviewing the final inspection data for accuracy and then pressing a button to complete the rest of the steps automatically. That button will tell your project management software to to automatically transfer inspection data into Ekotrope with Inspection Sync. Instantly registry the model with RESNET using the Ekotrope API to register the energy model with RESNET. Seamlessly, share reports and certificates to your shared drive or to your clients inbox without any hassle.

Generating, Downloading and Sending Reports to Builders:

Until now, printing reports and certificates required going into each energy model, selecting the necessary reports, and downloading the report to your desktop. On average, this process takes a rater 5-7 minutes per home when you include reprints and collating reports in special collations - such as when a builder requests all 45L certificates in one file for an entire year.

The Reports API will enable you to skip all of those steps to automatically generate the reports you need and send them to their final destination upon your request. This means no more working late to wrap up all of your outstanding energy model report requests.

Ready to Learn More?

Our team is thrilled to finally be able to share the Reports API with you. This tool can not only save you time and help you improve your relationships with builders, but it can also pose some interesting opportunities as you move forward.

For example, if your rating business uses a builder access portal where clients can download inspection reports, compliance reports, HERS Certificates, and other resources, you can integrate that portal with Reports API. This integration would allow builders to make a request for any approved report on any home and receive that report in real time. Thus, allowing your team to relieve themselves of the hassle of keeping up with report downloading requests so that they can instead work on other priorities.
